My First Month of Valorant…

Everyone has their game(s) that they are most excited about, and I always have a hard time because I am not a single-player fan. Very rarely is there a HUGE esports style game coming out with much of a notice. Apex Legends took us by storm back in 2019 and completely dominated the scene. Thanks to Riot Games, it looks like we will have out a game for 2020 with their previous title of Project A. Riot Games has been a Goliath over the last decade for the esports scene with League of Legends, and now they are coming in with another monster of a game. The community knew that Project A would be the next big thing at the end of 2019. Project A finally got a title right around the beta announcement, Valorant. Riot Games everyone will have the opportunity to play the beta as long as they watch at least two hours of a streamer who has drops enabled. It was an excellent way for Riot Games to bring some appreciation over to some twitch streamers.

Valorant is the game I was most excited about coming into the 2020 gaming year, and I was extremely nervous. I NEVER played an FPS on PC before so, I knew I would have a huge mountain to climb for skill. I decided to download CSGO and put about 40 hours into it a week before Valorant was coming out so I could get used to the play style, and thank goodness I did. Practicing CSGO prepared me toward a particularly useful mindset for Valorant. I slowed down the way I played a shooter, the mechanics in a game like this, and the communication in a tactical FPS. At the end of my CSGO time, I set my sights high to hit the rank of Valorant in their ranked system.

Riot's shooter Valorant goes into beta on April 7th - The Verge

I went on a grind of a couple of hundred hours the first month of Valorant, and when it all started it was pretty rocky. I was having a very difficult time not moving and shooting, not taking my time peeking around corners, and the call outs of the maps. It was a little discouraging at first because I was playing against people like myself who never played an FPS and then people with 10,000+ hours(from CSGO) in public matches. After some time I have adjusted to the playstyle of Valorant, and I am finally making some strides. I started at Bronze 1 for my rank, and I have already obtained Gold 1, creeping into Gold 2, in the opening week of ranked. I have spent several hours in the firing range, watching pros stream, and watching tips/tricks videos so far for Valorant and it has paid off. I am on my way to Valorant.

My Top Five Films of the Decade (Brandon)…

I would be doing the decade an injustice if I did just my top 5 video games of the decade. Since I am the one who runs our movie segment on TNC Live (Report From the Back Row), it would only be fitting for me to do a Top 5 Movie list as well for the decade. After a lot of deliberating, I finally have my top 5 movies of the decade (also an honorable mention or two). There have been some fantastic movies over the last decade, but here are my top 5 that meant the most to me.

I will start with my honorable mention for the decade, and that has to be Wolf of Wallstreet. I have always been someone who never really enjoys movies about real-life scenarios. Wolf of Wallstreet finally changed my way of thinking. I could not express how much this movie blew me away. It took such a realistic concept of money driving someone off the ledge and made it so intense going through this roller coaster. It is so disheartening that Lionardo Dicaprio did not win an Oscar for his performance in this film. Thanks to this film, I have opened up my variety of movies into realistic movies.

Now to start the real list. Starting my top 5 is Ted. Ted was the first time I have ever seen everyone in a theatre laughing hysterically. Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis killed their roles with Seth McFarlane. The film not only kept you laughing, but it had a great bond between two friends. It shows the two best friends dealing with one of the two finding a love interest. The movie starts strong and honestly never stops with the humor. It has some of the most vulgar and obscene jokes I have seen in a comedy, but it honestly does such a good job. Thanks to Seth McFarlane, he brings the world of Family Guy to life in Ted.

Kingsman Secret Service is the next film on my list. I have never enjoyed spy movies, but Kingsman gave it a new flavor. It took a juvenile delinquent and made him a hero. The film did such an immeasurable job of turning a criminal into someone you root for in his campaign. I thoroughly enjoyed the relationship between Eggsy and Harry. The duo had a father-son dynamic that made it a heartwarming plot. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the action sequences were. I wasn’t expecting much from this film when I first went to see it, but it has to be one of my favorite of the decade.

I have spent hours trying to figure out how to order these final films. After a lot of deliberating, I finally have them in proper order. The third movie to crack my list is Kick-Ass. Kick-Ass took superhero movies to a brand new light. It wasn’t afraid to be ridiculously over the top. Watching a child murder villains, badass Nicholas Cage, and a nerdy teenager becoming a hero was astounding. The soundtrack to this film was one of the first times I have ever thought about the music in a movie. It was incredible to see such a raunchy superhero movie during the rise of the MCU.

Speaking of the MCU, Infinity War comes in at number 2. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been transcendent, but overly predictable. Every single expansion to the franchise, you always had an idea where it would go. There was certainly never a time where there was fear the hero would not make it. That is why the Infinity War is incredible. SPOILER ALERT for Avengers Infinity War! ************************************************

They did such a good job surprising all fans. Most people who went into Infinity War were expecting to see characters like Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America to perish. That is not the case for Infinity War. There were so many unexpected deaths. This film took so many new characters away from us Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Dr. Strange. It was a brilliant move by Marvel. They are going to keep us on our toes for further installments.

Now it is time to talk about some Deadpool. Growing up, Deadpool was one of my favorite Marvel characters, next to Spider-Man. I would continually hear reports that there was a Deadpool project that was floating around with a script. Even better, it had Ryan Reynolds linked to the rumors. It was outrageous to have my favorite actor set to play my favorite anti-hero. It was one of the biggest days in media for me when the test footage was “leaked.” When the world got wind of Deadpool, everyone freaked out, and people were begging to see this movie hit theaters. I have never had my hype set to a record high. To be honest, I have always been disappointed when I get this excited about anything. Deadpool is the first to ever match my hype for anything. After seeing Deadpool 7 times in theatres, I can easily say it is my favorite movie of the decade.

I have not had so much fun deciding a top list for anything until this article. I had to reach out to friends and family for their help with this one. I needed people to tell me how excited I was after leaving these movies. I had to narrow down my choices from my original 20 films down to 5 and an honorable mention. What do you think of my list? Am I insane for putting these films on my list? What are your picks of the decade? Let us know in the comments below! If you enjoyed the article, please leave us a like!

Venom Trailer #2…

After having a few hours to collect myself and watch the trailer numerous times… It’s time to give my thoughts on the upcoming horror/anti-hero movie trailer that dropped this morning… It was absolutely exhilarating. I feel as if I was one of the few who thoroughly enjoyed the first trailer, with basically no complaints. This trailer though… blew my frickin’ mind. I have always been one to get pretty hyped for anything Marvel or DC, but this is such a new taste for the superhero genere.

The trailer starts out with Eddie Brock giving a little idea of who he is. He is a reporter who believes the goverment is missing some very important/dangerous events in the world, and that he has found “something really bad.” Following that introduces the beginning of the tear between Eddie and Venom. The trailer then cuts to the main antagonist of the film Dr. Carlton Drake (Riz Ahmed) stating why he is trying to learn more about the symbiotes which is for finding a way to combine man and symbiote to start a new evolution of man-kind. This trailer does an extremely good job of giving a glance into the intentions of the two main characters of the film.

Then… we get some action of Venom…
Eddie and Venom have some back and forth showing the difficult time Eddie is having controlling the symbiote to use it for only good. I’m sure this will be a struggle we will see at the beginning of the film when they are converged into one-being: the malicious intent of venom and the good guy of Eddie Brock. This will give us a fun roller coaster to keep our eyes on throughout the film. We get some more direct dialogue from Venom when he has captured the enemy from the first trailer, where he begins to describe the human body, “Eyes, lungs, pancreas so many snacks so little time.” This line gave me a rush of chills down my spine. This is where the R rating is going to come from. They seem to be wanting to portray the very maniacle/cannibal side of Venom which is going to give an extremely interesting characteristic for a character we are rooting for.

To touch on the special effects of the trailer we got an amazing look at the full standing Venom! This was something I was petrified about because in the first trailer Venom didnt seem to be THAT big… Well Sony has eased our hearts revealing a monstrosity that is Venom, a solid 7/8 foot or so standing creature that will terrify all oncoming foes. Speaking of foes of within the film, we got a more improved look at the enemy symbiotes in the film mainly Scream/Donna Diego (Michelle Lee) and what looked like Toxin/Patrick Mulligan (Reid Scott). It is really exciting to see what Venom will be potentially up against in the upcoming film!

All in all the trailer was super satisfying to have a peak at the story, giving some light to the villains of the film, and the amazing special effects. What did you think about the trailer? Please let us know in the comments below! Are you excited to see Venom? What do you think about a horror/super hero film? Black Ops 4 Beta Dates

The dates have finally been announced when the beta will drop for Black Ops 4, the upcoming installment for the Call of Duty franchise. It has been a sigh of relief the last few years when the developers have allowed us to indulge on early gameplay for multiple reasons. The biggest of course is for the not so hardcore fans to know if they will be interested in the newest Call of Duty. Then another benefit for the hardcore fans is they will be able to express their opinions of different gun balances pre launch. Even though some people may view the Call of Duty as a second evil to EA with their microtransactions, it really has been much appreciated that we have been getting betas for the past few games. Yes, for most part the franchise has become stale, but I will argue that the recent Call of Duty installment betas have lead to a much more polished game release.

Multiplayer Beta Dates:

Playstation 4 (First Weekend):

Start: August 3rd 10am PT / 1pm ET

End: August 6th 10am PT / 1pm ET

Playstation 4 and Xbox One (Second Weekend):

Start: August 10th 10am PT / 1pm ET

End: August 13th 10am PT / 1pm ET

PC:

Start: August 10th 10am PT / 1pm ET

End: August 13th 10am PT / 1pm ET

Black Ops 4 Blackout Beta: Classified

There are a plethora of different elements the community is eager to get their hands on in the beta. Black Ops 4 is trying it’s best to make Call of Duty feel innovated again, but this could be its ultimate downfall. As much as the community complains about Call of Duty being stale by not taking risks, these same people lash out when the game does change (jet packs). There is potential for a pivotal year for Call of Duty with the addition of new combat changes such as self healing, medics, five man matches, and BATTLE ROYALE… this could be a huge turning point for the franchise. If pulled off correctly, fans will find their love for the game again. But if the additions lack, it could be the final dagger to the heart for the franchise. As a long time Call of Duty lover… I really hope this could be the change we are needing.

Let us know what you think about the upcoming Call of Duty game, Black Ops 4. Are you interested with the changes? Are you buying in on a AAA title making a battle royale game mode? Are you excited for a possibly new tactical game play with self healing? Or do you just want Call of Duty to die already?

C2E2 Day One!!!

Yesterday was the first day of C2E2, and it was a blast! We got there right around the time of opening at 10am, and were there till around 5pm. The day started very well when I brought Seth to his first ever booth… He had the intensions of not spending any money, but those planes were demolished intently when he drops about 100$ at his first booth on some statues and key chains… We then went and met Jennifer Hale for an autograph, and it felt amazing to meet one of the most popular voices in video games throughout the years. It was really great to see a huge  a cluster of nerds who love and share a bunch of common interested! All around day one was a huge success we will post some of the art work sometime this weekend for everyone to check out!

Orisa is coming!!!

We are less then a week away from the new Overwatch tank to hit the competitive season with! It will be nice to have an addition to the roster to add a little more diversity to the tank selection. People have been fearing a new tank like this though… They feel that Overwatch is going to become Barrierwatch. People in the PTR were running groups with Reinhardt, Winston, and Orisa… With a Bastion. Yeah, we see how that will be a headache too.

It is going to be very interesting how Orisa will fit the meta. Will this bring in a new wave of 3 rank groups with the barrier squad? It’s hard to imagine playing choke hold maps with Reinhardt, Mei, Orisa, and a Bastion also. You will never be able to push through the hold. We will probably see more flying/flanking characters be played more now.

Go let us know what you think about the new tank Orisa @TheNerdChambers on Twitter. Will you be playing Orisa when she drops? Is this going to possibly ruin your current character pick with another barrier? Let us know on Twitter or down in the comments!
