This last Tuesday, the 7th of January, was one to remember for a long time. Thanks to our friends in Vivid (@WeAreVivid), we got to experience a very enjoyable Rocket League tournament. Manny and I got together with a couple of the members for a LAN event where they hosted a 2v2 Rocket League tournament. I still can’t believe in such short notice we arranged 16 teams for the competition. The members of Vivid were such great sports and were fierce competition. They put our skills to the test throughout the brackets. Thank you to the Vivid organization for letting us be apart of this event, and a huge thanks to Zookuzero (@Zookuzero) for doing a phenomenal job hosting the event. Huge congratulations to @Squiggly_YT and his teammate on their success! Please share some love and give all of them some love on social media!
Going into the event, I was not too sure what I should expect. I had no clue about the number of people that would enter the contest, the quality of players, or the seriousness of the tournament itself. Zookuzero did such a great job getting everything together in such short notice, and his casting during the games was impeccable. For someone who has minimal casting experience, at no point did I question his commentary. Thanks to his broadcast, it made me take a look at that side of esports more in-depth. I spent part of my day observing various esports casters because of the tourney. I was interested in what makes each caster unique, and it is honestly amazing to see each person’s style. I believe there is a chance I will dip my feet into the world of casting thanks to Zookuzero.
I am eager to see where the Vivid and Nerd Chambers connection will take us both. I am sure we will see more tournaments like this and other collaborations between the teams in 2020. We are both hoping to make it to similar paths, and with each other, I am sure we will get there. I hope we can continue to partner together for more events like this in the future. What would you like to see from our upcoming collaborations with Vivid? If you have any ideas, let us know down in the comments! Thank you for all the support!

The dates have finally been announced when the beta will drop for Black Ops 4, the upcoming installment for the Call of Duty franchise. It has been a sigh of relief the last few years when the developers have allowed us to indulge on early gameplay for multiple reasons. The biggest of course is for the not so hardcore fans to know if they will be interested in the newest Call of Duty. Then another benefit for the hardcore fans is they will be able to express their opinions of different gun balances pre launch. Even though some people may view the Call of Duty as a second evil to EA with their microtransactions, it really has been much appreciated that we have been getting betas for the past few games. Yes, for most part the franchise has become stale, but I will argue that the recent Call of Duty installment betas have lead to a much more polished game release.
Multiplayer Beta Dates:
Playstation 4 (First Weekend):
Start: August 3rd 10am PT / 1pm ET
End: August 6th 10am PT / 1pm ET
Playstation 4 and Xbox One (Second Weekend):

Black Ops 4 Blackout Beta: Classified
There are a plethora of different elements the community is eager to get their hands on in the beta. Black Ops 4 is trying it’s best to make Call of Duty feel innovated again, but this could be its ultimate downfall. As much as the community complains about Call of Duty being stale by not taking risks, these same people lash out when the game does change (jet packs). There is potential for a pivotal year for Call of Duty with the addition of new combat changes such as self healing, medics, five man matches, and BATTLE ROYALE… this could be a huge turning point for the franchise. If pulled off correctly, fans will find their love for the game again. But if the additions lack, it could be the final dagger to the heart for the franchise. As a long time Call of Duty lover… I really hope this could be the change we are needing.
Let us know what you think about the upcoming Call of Duty game, Black Ops 4. Are you interested with the changes? Are you buying in on a AAA title making a battle royale game mode? Are you excited for a possibly new tactical game play with self healing? Or do you just want Call of Duty to die already?
Each week we give all you nerds a little insight on Overwatch. The Nerd Chambers current favorite competitive shooter… We have brought you the Bastion buffs, news on Zarya and Bastion getting slight tweaks, and our experiences in the current season. Well today we have some more upcoming patch notes to bring all of you that are currently in play in the PTR (public test region).
- Damage decreased from 80 to 60
- Impact damage reduced from 60 to 30
- Impact healing reduced from 100 to 50
- No longer hurts himself from his own explosions. (Effect added to current passive: Total Mayhem)
- Magazine size lowered from 200 to 150
- Sound effects and VO distance for entering and exiting Stealth reduced to 15 meters.
- Cooldown reduced from 6s to 4s
- Cooldown now starts when the barrier is placed, instead of when it ends
Orb of Destruction
- Alternate fire recovery reduced from 1s to 0.6s
Orb of Discord
- Can now target enemies through barriers
There are many… Many changes that are currently in the test region. Some are going to benefit heroes, and some will of course hurt some of the heroes. In our eyes their really are no big “helpful” changes to any of the characters. Yes the Winston cooldown change will be nice, but not game changing. Also it will most likely not bring him into play more than he is currently seeing. The Zenyatta changes are nice, but again not game changing. Being able to discord through barriers does not do a lot because you still have to take down the barriers. Sombra is probably seeing the biggest positive change with a better colldown with the teleporter, and the fact that she is silent out of stealth will help her suprise attacks. She is probably the most hated character on console currently, so this will probably not being her into any matches still.
Now… The negative. Sadly most of us have not had any chance to get our hands on Orisa, and she is already seeing sorts of nerfs with her clip size from 200 to 150. This change won’t personally effect any of us because we haven’t had first hand play with her yet. So it will all be new anyway for us. We however can say goodbye to Ana in meta… She is losing a good protion of her damage from 80 to 60. That’s 3 shots from 2 for a tracer, and 3 to 4 for a majority of heroes in the game. On top of that, her grenade is now being cut In half brining it to nearly useless. This might be the death of Ana for the meta, and the birth of Zenyatta for meta play.
What do all you games think about these changes coming to Overwatch? Was Ana one of your mains? Hopefully you didn’t golden gun her recently… Let us know @TheNerdChambers all your thoughts! Also go like us on Facebook!
Hello people of the Nerdum! I am the co-creater of The Nerd Chambers with the man, the myth, the legend… JaceRush. A little bit about me to start… I have a huge love for the world of fantasy such as Lord of the Rings and D&D. On top of that my fascination for super heroes is second to none. Some of you may be asking why is his name ShadowGhoul? Well thank you very first yugioh card! The connection that Jace Rush and I started was because we are both huge gamers of course. but a huge love that I have is the comic book side of the nerd world! I absolutely love comic cons such as , C2E2 and Wiard World, I will be hopefully dragging JaceRush along with me this year for him to experience the incredible world of Cons! I have been collecting comics for the last 4 years now, and have started with the Amazing Spider-Man series. I will hopefully begin to expand my collection into Flash this year, but for now I will try and complete my Amazing Spider-Man run! JaceRush and I have been gaming together for close to a year now thanks to us attending the same broadcasting school. We dominate the world of Rocket League and Overwatch together on PS4, and have a great time doing it. We are hoping to bring an outlet for all of our fellow nerds out there to relate to and spark conversations with. Feel free to tweet us @TheNerdChambers to get a conversation going on gaming topics or if you want to join our empire to conquer the PSN world of overwatch send us your own names!
