A HUGE trailer dropped yesterday for the DC Universe and it was Titans the live action Teen Titans TV show. There has been a lot of speculation coming from fans after the set photos were leaked of the upcoming project. Some people did not care for the style they were going for with the character designs but others were extremely excited to finally get a proper Teen Titans series. The trailer starts off with something that absolutely SHOCKED me… the fact that the series will be TV-MA!? I’ve been following the show at a very distant pace because I also have a few concerns, and didn’t want to give any judgement until information was confirmed. Growing up in the early 2000’s with the original teen titans cartoon series I was very excited to hear that there was a live action show in the works since I personally could not connect with Teen Titans GO! So seeing that they will be going with a VERY gritty style of what has always seemed to be a bit more of a witty/quirky super hero squad defiantly brings some concern…
There have been plenty of complaints after this trailer dropped… The main issue I have seen from a lot of fans (myself included) the personality of the characters seemed off to say the least. 1. Raven in the beloved TV show, video games, and some comic runs always seemed to be the mysterious “bruiting” one that doesn’t show much emotion unless in super tense situations, but she seemed to be the most emotional character in the trailer. Then Robin who is always the leader and the one to keep everyone focused was a pissed off whiny angsty teen. He even dropped an F bomb about Batman which truly surprised me. Those are the only two we really got much from in the first trailer. We also received a glimpse of Star Fire’s powers and a quick shot of Beast Boy pre-transformation, so I won’t really give any sort of input on them since we don’t have enough to go off of yet for a good enough analysis. My final question is this… Is that it for who we get or will other characters from the team show up? The big question is Cyborg of course…
We will have to wait until later this year to find out if this is a stud or a dud. For the time being I will be reserved, but have my hopes that this show will blow us away! The excitement for Marvel’s Iron Fist has been surreal… This is the 4th part to Marvel’s collected series for the upcoming super hero mash-up show The Defenders. Out of all the Marvel’s Netflix shows Iron Fist is the character I knew the least about. So I was very excited to experience a brand new super hero, and learn everything about him through the new Netflix original… Let’s get to the impression!
I have made it half way through the season so far, and I am very surprised the reviews are as bad as they were. On Rotten Tomatoes the show was given a dishonorable 15%. Shows like Daredevil (98%), Luke Cage (96%), and Jessica Jones (93%), have all had great critic success. Iron Fist did not see the same love. The first few episodes had a very slow pace to them. I will say that, but it made sense. We had to learn about the character, and why he is what he is. Around episode 4 is where the action begins to pick up, there are a lot of fighting scenes from episodes 4-7. If you can get past the slow start of the show it will be a very enjoyable time. Iron Fist has a very Arrowesk atmosphere with lost boy/turned billionaire/turned incredible fighter.
Other than the action sequences there is also a very good emotional connection between the characters. You can truly tell they care for one another, and they will do whatever they can to help each other succeed. I would definitely recommend any comic book/super hero fans to give this show a shot.
I will give a full spoiler review of the show once I have finished the show! Make sure to check in at all The Nerd Chambers social media outlets: Twitter/Facebook/Instagram! Go tweet us and let us know what you think of Iron Fist!
There has been a lot of excitement the last couple of weeks with the X-Men franchise/Fox. Logan came out last week and swept the box office with 85.3 million opening weekend. On top of that, the new X-Men based TV show Legion has been doing very well on FX. Finally we had some insight of Deadpool 2 from a teaser that was shown before Logan, and the exciting of news that Zazie Beetz will be playing Domino!
After all this exciting news we have received, there is another update from Fox. There is another television series that will be starting up some time in the future called Gifted. Alex Gilyadov from IGN reported that…
“It also seems The Originals and The Vampire Diaries star Joseph Morgan has been cast in Gifted.
Gifted’s cast includes Jamie Chung (Once Upon A Time) as the mutant Blink; Blair Redford (Switched at Birth, Satisfaction) as the mutant Thunderbird; Stephen Moyer (True Blood) as an attorney named Reed; Amy Acker (Person of Interest) as Reed’s estranged wife, Caitlin; Natalie Alyn Lind (Gotham) as one of their mutant children, Lauren; Percy Hynes White (Defiance) as Andy; Coby Bell (Burn Notice) as Jace; and Emma Dumont (Pretty Little Liars) as Polaris.”
Thanks to Alex Gilyadov we have a little more ideas of what is to come with the upcoming show Gifted. What do you think about a new X-Men TV show? Tweet us @TheNerdChambers and let us know what you think!
Can it be? Are we going to see a successful Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles story line!? The fan base seems to be slowly crawling back into the sewers for the disappointing attempt of live action films from Paramount Pictures. Yes, all in all the movies may have made some money from the first TMNT having a budget of 125 million dollars, and grossed 493.3 million dollars. While the second TMNT: Out from the Shadows budget was 135 million dollars, and grossed 245.6 million a serious decrease.
For the fans sake… I would love to see a fun loving, true to the story, and successful Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles creation. Thankfully Nickelodeon announced Rise of the Teenage Mutant Turtles 2D animated series. The series is set to premiere in fall of 2018 and the show will have 26 episodes total. The two Gentelman taking on this series will be Andy Suriano(Samurai Jack Character Designer), and Any Ward (Supervising Producer on the current Teenage Mutant Turtles series).
IGN writer Alex Gilyadov reported “Rise of the Teenage Mutant Turtles will expand the mythology of the Ninja Turtles by featuring new villains and a “more mystical New York City,” as the four protagonists discover a magical world beneath the city’s streets while also gaining strange new mystical ninja powers.” The description for the series definitely brings some new light to the franchise, and it will be a very exciting wait to see a new crew begin the story of the Teenage Mutant Turtles.
